Nicholas May

Nicholas Andrew May is currently a Junior, Vocal Performance and Music Studies major at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he is the beneficiary of several vocal and academic scholarships. 

Nicholas, a lyric baritone, has been seen onstage in the chorus of Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus (Spring 2006), as the Policeman in Hans Krasa’s Brundibar (Fall 2006), Mr. Gobineau in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium (Spring 2007), and Peter in Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (Spring 2007) with the UTSA Lyric Theatre.  He also portrayed the Priest in the (staged) world premiere of Paul Salerni’s Tony Caruso’s Last Broadcast, in addition to a number of other opera scenes, with the Crittenden Summer Opera Program in Washington D.C. in 2007. In the Spring he appeared as Papageno in the UTSA Lyric Theatre's sold-out production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte ("The Magic Flute") and as the baritone soloist in Mozart's Vespers with the San Antonio Mastersingers, under the baton of Dr. John Silantien. In Summer 2008, Nick will appear as Guglielmo in Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte, Schaunard in Puccini's La Boheme, and Koko in Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado.

Nicholas is a student of Linda Poetschke. In Fall 2006, he tied for 2nd place among sophomore men in the Texoma region National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, and in Spring 2007, Nick placed first among sophomore men in the South Texas Chapter NATS competition.  Mr. May is currently a member of the UTSA Concert Choir, the UTSA Honors College, the Golden Key International Honour Society, and he has been a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity since Fall 2005.
