Javier E. Tapia

I am currently Director of Bands, and Fine Arts Chair for Edison High School of the San Antonio School District.  I was co-founder and first band director of the Alamo City Community Marching Band of San Antonio. I am originally from Laredo, Texas and was a member of the J W Nixon High School Mustang Band. I attended Laredo Jr. College and transferred to Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas .I began my teaching career in 1985 as the Head director in a small south Texas town in the BISD system, moved to San Antonio in 1991, and took the Head Director Position at John F. Kennedy High School of the Edgewood District where I remained for eleven years before moving to Edison. Music has always been the driving force in my life, I met my wife as a fellow member of our university band, and we have one son who is a member of the Taft High School band. I am hoping to become proficient with music technology and use it as a vehicle to bring music into peoples lives.
